i can never feel as deeply as most people out there about how women suffers from discrimination. (this is because i live in SINGAPORE)(for middle east women i think its becos we look down on the middle east men so they have no healthy outlet to vent their anger and this disgusting bunch of men vent it thru psychotic means of imagining they are more superior than women.which in fact they are not.)
until i read this article on statistics discussing on how technology and science made our life better or worse.
one sub heading is :'women, disabled, blacks'
of course, what we learnt about the ringing of freedom in america is to not discriminate the blacks, right? hence disabled and blacks suggests that the article is on the discrimination issue. but how the hell did 'women' got grouped together with blacks and disabled.
this was when i realised how bad the discrimination towards women IS.(notice its present tense, meaning it still happens now) though i thank god and all my ancestors that i'm born in singapore, a society that is quite(not totally) open minded and not like those in third world countries.
but speaking from a singaporean's point of view, i don't understand why blacks and disabled and women was discriminated in the past. though it does happens now and then, too. okay if we're talking about blacks here, maybe it's quite linked to singapore's banglahdeshi workers. however, though there's a general discrimination towards them, as long as they do not do anything funny to me, i will give them the respect that they have given me. anyways its not only towards the banglah ppl, but its also largely towards those lao ah peks sitting all day at the coffee shop and oogling at women walking past them. i think they are no better than those banglahs. anyway, there are young guys doing that too(esp those who like to grind in clubs) so i will only discriminate those who have such attitude problems and deserve it.
okay back to the disabled and women who are victims of discrimination. i cannot imagine why the hell do ppl discriminate them!! ok if i'm a woman and i'm disabled, do you think people will start to stone me once i get out of the house?
blacks= humans
women=humans
disabled=humans
banglahdeshi=humans
lao ah peks=humans
then why should we discriminate or look down on our fellow species at all? of course, unless their behaviour tempts us to give them a punch in the balls, then we wouldn't have much to talk about here.
